Hi there!

Fourm newbie here, looking to replace our windshield wipers. Not the whole mechanism, just the wiper blades and blade holder. We have a Classic Explorer #6023 Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

‘thanks,

We have used normal 18” auto blades from any car parts store. I replace them once a year but they are much less expensive than the “marine” ones that were original.

Hi Russ,
Thanks for the response!
I was kind of thinking auto blades would work. Just thought I’d check the consensus. I’ll head to auto parts store tomorrow.

We replace the Exalto blades with Truck blades, they fit the Exalto wipers and are heavy duty so take the salt spray well. Have bought from Amazon, about $20 vs $65-85 from Defender. We replaced the Exalto arms last year, cheapest source at the time was MMarine in Florida.

Hi Wayne & Sharon:

You almost certainly have Exalto wipers. I've experimented with several "after-market" wiper blade substitutes and found none of them to be satisfactory. The original equipment wiper blade refills are ridiculously expensive, but I finally decided having functional wipers was worth it. Here's one source:

Hola Mark,
Thank you Mark! I ordered the Trucker blades on Amazon. Let’s see how they work, I’ll definitely keep the information for Defender blades.
