I am excited to have our SMOG Forum up and running. I predict very good times ahead. I have been reading, researching, remembering, watching and shopping for a new ride to pair up with our tender on the bridge deck of 6047 in the Spring. The 2007 Triumph America Cruiser I have is beautiful (actually showroom), but a bit bulky, a bit heavy, quite low to the ground, and not exactly what I had in mind for a boat bike. So I shopped a little Monday and loved the Yamaha Scramblers. The Honda was a bit anemic and the bulky high exhaust pipe bothered me, but it was certainly capable. Nice, but they are all so Japanese - reliable, well made, very high tech, serviceable almost anywhere, but they just did not do it for me; almost, but not quite. The “meh” factor was in the air. So today I went to Moto Richmond to peruse the exotics.
Just like falling for Selene OE 6047 and doing something I never expected to do at my age regarding a new boat build, it happened. The ladies there, Chelsea and Erica, had a bike I have admired for years, with a killer paint job that is no longer available as Triumph changes it up every year. And it was on sale for 3k off, a temptation as I love a bargain. And the one thing in the world I cannot resist, well, you know, is temptation.
So, check out the attached photos of me and my brand new 2024 Triumph Scrambler 1200 X in Ash Gray. I will pick it up after Terry’s surgery on 10/30 and accessories are installed: windshield, fork protectors, dresser bars, left side pannier and luggage rack.
The devil made me do it.
