Shangri-La, a beautiful Selene 53, will soon be offered for sale, having undergone a three year maintenance and refit program of $150,000 USD plus to make her our “forever” boat. While cruising from Trinidad to Chesapeake Bay this spring the folks at Selene Americas and Howard Chen made us an offer we could not refuse and we will take delivery of a new Selene Ocean Explorer 60 before long. Selene 5388 will need new owners and she is ready to cruise the world.
5388 is a 2010 Selene 53 widebody with hardtop, twin Cummins 230’s, 16kw Northern Lights generator, two radars (open array and radome), Sidepower bow and stern thrusters, outriggers, rod holders, newer Bluewater watermaker, with 3 cabins, 2 heads, two stairways to staterooms, oyster white gel coat vessel. The maintenance and refit program includes an all new 1.7kw solar array on hardtop, Maritime Starlink, all new AGM batteries including 1100ah Lifeline house bank, new Victron inverter/charger, New JL stereo sound system and speakers, new surround sound TV system, newer Vitifrigo refrigerators and freezer, heavy engine, generator and Naiad stabilizers maintenance, windlass overhauled and repainted, new cutlass bearings and PSS shaft seals and shafts and props inspected and tuned, new exterior caulk including all windows, new interior blinds, new interior and exterior varnish, all exterior doors and crane removed, maintained and repainted, all new interior and exterior fabrics and upholstery. Also included are Epirb and 6 person liferaft (recently repacked and recertified). Tender not included but SS rack for tender is included.
The maintenance and refit program was not designed to make Shangri-La just fit for sale, but to make her capable of cruising the world. We hope to continue that adventure with our new vessel. Perhaps Shangri-La’s new owners will join us on the water in 5388.
Shangri-La will be available for viewing beginning with the Summer Fun Mini-Rendezvous scheduled for July 11-14 at Saint Mary’s College of Maryland on the Saint Mary’s River in Maryland and at White Point Creek Marina in Kinsale, Virginia, her home port.
