Fresh Water Gauges
Doug Nash

Our fresh water Wema gauges on our 2009 53 only read occasionally to register the tank level and then go to zero. In addition, when the boat rolls at anchor, the needles on the gauges bounce from pin to pin creating a lot of noise.

I have attached photos from the top of the forward tank.

Does anyone have experience fixing such a problem??

One of my water gauges, the forward, also occasionally has "spells" and wavers around for a while until it rights itself.  I don't know the cause but it always comes around.  Age maybe?  I try to be as tolerant as I can since I have an episode occasionally myself.  Usually relaxing on the flybridge deck with a G&T or glass of wine helps.  Let us know if you find a better solution.

I replaced the sending unit on my tank - it’s a long rod with a float and it just deteriorates over time. I stopped having the zero reading then. I do like Jack’s solution he recommended though. Sounds more relaxing.

Where did you find the replacement sending unit for the tank?  I have tried Jack's solution, but it is leading to other problems!!

Doug,

I had a similar problem. Replacing the sending unit solved the problem. I attached a troubleshooting/product identification guide. Hope it helps.

That is great information.  I will replace mine when we get home to the Chesapeake Bay in June.  Until then I will get by on the flybridge G&T plan.
