2016 Northwest Selene Owner's Rendezvous

By Mark Tilden

About 25 Selene Trawlers from up and down the West Coast will gather in Roche Harbor the third weekend in April for our 15th annual Selene Owner's Rendezvous. Once again, the event has been organized and run by a committee of owners and it promises to be the best Rendezvous EVER, with great seminars, great socializing, great food, and beautiful boats!

The event kicks off on Thursday, April 21st with our first ever "Selene University" full-day weather class. This is an optional class taught by two highly qualified individuals. There is a $50 fee for this class in addition to the normal Rendezvous registration of $100/person. The class is almost full, so if you wish to attend, please let us know immediately. We'll start a waiting list when the class limit of 30 students is reached. Click here for more information and the registration form.

The 15th Annual Northwest Selene Owner's Rendezvous will be held in beautiful Roche Harbor, Washington. You can see in this photo the whole outer-end float is filled with Selenes!

The normal Rendezvous events begin on Friday with an excellent slate of seminars. Mark Bunzel, publisher of the Waggoner's Cruising Guide will be our guest to lead off with a seminar titled "Off the Beaten Path Anchorages". We also have arranged for another tour and wine tasting at San Juan Vineyards, which got great reviews last year! In addition, Tony Locke of "Blame it on the Light Images" will be giving a Photography for Cruisers seminar. I've seen the e-book he'll be giving away as part of this seminar, and it's excellent! As usual, there will be plenty of time for socializing as well as a nice banquet on Saturday evening with some really excellent prizes! Click here for a detailed schedule of events.

If you haven't yet registered, please print, fill out and mail this form with your check for $100 (USD) per person immediately. It's really helpful to the organizing committee if we can get all registrations in by April 1st!

By the way, guests are welcome, as are out-of-the area owners. You can get to Roche Harbor several ways:

  1. Fly into Seatac airport and connect with Kenmore Air float plane service (they offer a shuttle from Seatac) that lands right in Roche Harbor!
  2. Fly into Seatac, rent a car and drive to Anacortes (about 2 hours drive). Catch the Ferry from Anacortes to Friday Harbor. Drive to Roche Harbor from Friday Harbor. (see http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/ferries/ for ferry schedules).
  3. Fly into Seatac, take the Anacortes Airport shuttle to the San Juan ferry terminal. Walk on the ferry and get off in Friday Harbor. There is regular bus service offered by San Juan Transit from Friday Harbor to Roche Harbor.
  4. Post a note on the main forum and ask if there are other owners who could give you a boat ride!

Paul Chau, of Jet Tern Marine will be with us and he will be distributing the new "Selene Family Album" photo books. If you have not yet submitting photos and stories of your boat, please see this post on the Owners-only section of the forum for details. If you want your photos and story to be included you must act immediately!. Deadline for submitting photos and stories is March 31st!

Also, remember that we'll be running our usual annual photo contest. See Jeff Morris' posting on the main forum for more details.

We hope to see you all there!
