Jet Tern Marine Celebrates 15 years of building Selene Ocean Trawlers.

Annapolis, MD—Jet-Tern Marine opened its first shipyard in Dongguan, China in March of 1998 and is proud to be celebrating its 15th anniversary as one of the leading trawler production companies in a global cruising market. Since production began, Jet-Tern has shipped well over 300 Selene trawlers around the world. In fact, over 100 of the most popular model, the Selene 53/54 have been shipped.

The success of the Selene line of trawlers is due to the enthusiastic leadership of CEO Howard Chen, a strong and dedicated network of 17 dealers around the world including 4 in the US, and an expanding Selene owner family who are a testament to the popularity of these vessels. In the US a very active Selene Owners’ website connects and builds this community.

Increasing interest in, and subsequent orders for Selene trawlers, prompted Chen to open a second shipyard in Zhu-Hai, China in 2006. Between the two yards, Selene employs 1,200 well trained workers with 10 experienced Taiwanese managers overseeing construction.

In addition to the popular full displacement Selene trawlers, Jet Tern has introduced the 49 and 58 semi-displacement Selene Express, and the planing hull Artemis series of which over 20 have been delivered, primarily in the rapidly growing Asian market.

Through an international collaboration with renown Holland designer Guido de Groot and Greg Marshall Naval Architects from Canada, Jet Tern is building the larger Selene Ocean Explorer series, ranging from 75 to 128’. Two Selene 92s are under contract with the first to be delivered later in 2014. Similarly a Selene 75 is well under way.

Dealers for Selene trawlers span the globe. There are four licensed dealers in the U.S. catering to each coast and the popular cruising grounds of North America, and five European dealers responsible for major regions there. New Zealand, Australia, Asia, and the Middle East, and Russia also boast Selene dealers. For complete contact information for each dealer, visit www.selenetrawlers.com.

As Jet-Tern continues to build on the achievements of the last 15 years, 2014 will be filled with a focus on fine-tuning the skills/tools/equipment of the workers/boats/dealers, integrating new techniques/technology/design details, and launching the first Selene 92 later this year.

The mantra of Howard Chen and Jet Tern Marine, “Your Dream, Our Commitment,” is alive and well as the company and Selene dealer teams are focused helping cruisers around the world achieve their dream of spending time on the water on yachts that are dependable and comfortable passage makers.
